ABOUT RAYNES PARK

RAYNES PARK, LONDON SW20, FROM THE 1870S TO PRESENT DAY

Raynes Park is in South West London in the London Borough of Merton, just 10 miles from central London. The arrival of the rail station in 1871 transformed Raynes Park from a largely agricultural area into sophisticated residential land development. Grand Drive in Raynes Park, with its elegant Victorian mansions was originally built as a carriage way leading to the train station. From the 1890s twelve well-known local streets followed, known locally as The Apostles, roads such as Aston Road, Prince Georges Road, Edna Road and Chestnut Road. Raynes Park took its name from the train station and continued to develop, gaining an impressive church, golf club and now very popular high street.

The range of Victorian and Edwardian housing stock makes the area very popular with families, and owners with a liking for renovation and restoration. That also means they are often looking for appropriate furniture and other home decorative items you may have in your property but now wish to sell.
